When it comes to applying makeup, we all have our own unique way of doing it. There are so many different tools that you can buy to apply it that it’s hard to know where to start. So, we just keep doing what we have always done until we discover something great that we can use.
However, it doesn’t mean that what we are doing is necessarily right. There are some things that we need a bit more insight on – especially now that the makeup world is developing new trends faster than we ever could have expected – to be able to really complete our look and get a good ‘beat’.
Makeup Trends to Perfect
Not exactly a brand new beauty trend but still very popular! There are videos popping up all over social media of women putting stripes down certain parts of their faces and blending them in, then looking absolutely gorgeous – as if it’s as easy as that. In reality, you need to know so much more about what you’re doing, and also what to expect from it all. You’re not going to look like you’ve had a complete facelift at the end of it, at least until you’ve had quite a bit of practice.
It’s important to find the right colors to blend in to fit your skin tone, where to place the lines so that you get the shadows right, and what tools you need to really blend it in and get everything matched perfectly. While this might sound like a lengthy process, once you’ve done it well a couple of times you should be able to get it down to just four easy steps, which is definitely more manageable for day to day contouring.
Getting hold of a great lip kit of some sort will put you well on your way to getting the fuller lips that are so in trend right now. It’s a two-step process, but one that definitely needs a bit of time dedicating to it to ensure that you’re getting it right. The more that you work on your outline and mixing up different shades to create a contouring effect, the better your desired result will be each time. Practice makes perfect – especially when it comes to the colors you pick and the shades that you choose for your lips. You can also play around with colors to create an ombre look, which is also a great beauty trend right now.
This is one of the hardest things to master when it comes to makeup. At least for me. If you’re like me, both sides never seem to match perfectly and that’s the most frustrating thing about it all. Plus, you will probably mess up some of your makeup by trying to achieve the perfect look with liquid eyeliner and you end up with a disaster.
For this beauty trend, it’s all about knowing what type of eyes you have and how you can work with them. If you have hooded eyelids, it’s harder to master the perfect wing unless you follow tutorials teaching you how to and understand how your skin will move with eyes open and closed.
You don’t have to be a magician, but you do have to create an illusion of sorts. Being that there are different methods, you will have to find a strategy that works for you. For me, lining my hooded eyes works best when I pull the outer end out a bit to get a smooth application. Some people also place a piece of tape or paper at an angle on the outer corner of the eye to achieve the perfect wing. Take a look at this great video tutorial for beginners.
