Hey all! I’m so happy that it is officially Summer! It’s my favorite season (and birthday season 😉) because, in my opinion, it’s the best time to be out and about, go on vacation, chill poolside or at the beach, or enjoy doing some other fun activity outdoors while soaking up some Vitamin D! However, Summer is not the time to slack on skin care. No, no. It’s probably the most important time of year to protect your skin and keep the regular facial treatments going. In this post, I will be reviewing a facial sheet mask by Purlisse that I recently tried.

I’m no stranger to facial treatments but until now, I had never done a facial sheet mask before. It seems to be a trend that is growing in popularity here in the US and is a really big beauty trend in Asia. A sheet mask is basically a piece of fabric that is individually packaged in a pouch where it is soaking in a skin beautifying serum just ready to be placed on your skin.
In a previous post, I showed you all the goodies that I received in my Ipsy Glam bag in April. Among them were two facial treatment sheet masks by Purlisse. The one I am reviewing here is the Blue Lotus + White Tea Treatment Sheet Mask.
🍃 PURLISSE FACIAL SHEET MASK 🍃
This treatment mask claims to deliver antioxidants and minerals to the skin that will fight free radicals and improve the texture of the skin . It has white mulberry in it to brighten the skin and Anise to help firm the skin for a healthy and youthful look.
After washing my face, I took the mask out of the package and carefully placed it on my face and I immediately liked the cool feeling I got from it. The sheet was completely wet, not dripping, from the treatment serum goodness that it had been marinating in and it had a light pleasant scent.
Being that this was my first time using a sheet mask, lining up the holes correctly on my face was a little bit awkward mainly around the mouth area. I do not have a wide mouth (at least I don’t think so) but the hole felt like it was made for someone with a smaller mouth but it worked out.
I smoothed the sheet on my face as best as I could so my skin could absorb the serum it was coated with. I was able to spread it all over my face and pat it down to make sure it contacted every area of my face. Then I realized how crazy I looked lol!
Because the mask is a circular shape it was hard to get all the edges down perfectly but that wasn’t a big deal. I left it on my face for 20 minutes (the instructions say to leave it on for 15-20 minutes) while I caught up on the latest episode of one of my ratchet reality TV shows (guilty pleasure…don’t judge me ha!)
The instructions say not to rinse your face after removing the facial sheet mask but to instead gently massage the treatment into your skin. This allows the serum to be absorbed some more. So, I massaged it in in circular motions all over my face and continued watching my show.
I don’t have an after pic (sorry, I got caught up in the show 😳) but my skin did have a nice glow to it! However, my skin was sticky to the touch. It stayed that way for hours. I didn’t like that. I kept re-reading the package to see if I really wasn’t supposed to wash it off because even 2-3 hours later, my skin felt sticky! The stickiness did eventually go away but I’d say that’s a downside to this particular treatment mask. But on the upside, my skin was still left with a nice glow and it didn’t dry out my skin at all and I didn’t have to apply moisturizer afterwards. That’s a big plus for me!
🍃 THE VERDICT 🍃
So my first time trying a facial sheet mask wasn’t too shabby at all! It actually makes me want to do them more often. Another good thing is that it’s much less messy than facial treatments like mud masks that you’d have to wash off. The benefit of this particular mask is that it automatically leaves your skin more radiant than before right afterwards without any added products.
Purlisse facial treatment masks and other skin care products can be purchased here on their website. This mask looks to be part of their Summer Glow Set but can also be purchased individually for $8. Based on what I’ve seen, that price seems to be mid-range compared to others priced as low as $3 and as high as $23.
What are your thoughts? Have you tried a facial sheet mask before? I’d love recommendations for more good ones too! Let me know in the comments!
