Everybody wants to look good. Whether you’re vain or not, it’s natural to want an appearance that is, at the very least, aesthetically pleasing. You don’t have to be the next Beyonce or J Lo but you want to feel proud of the way you look. It’s more about self-confidence than the way others perceive you. Are you really bothered about the way other people look? Probably not. And they’re not bothered about the way you look. Looking good has to be a journey done for yourself and for the right reasons.
The secret to looking good is feeling good, at the end of the day. You can take shortcuts to change your appearance but healthiness is the key to looking attractive. You can’t cut corners forever. At the end of the day, you’ve got to work hard to improve what’s going on in your body and your mind if you want a state of healthiness to be reflected on the outside. Your looks say a lot about your health. Here are some pieces of advice to help you live a healthier life and look better as a result!
Looking Good, Girl!
Most people begin with focusing on their overall body when they want to look better. What’s important to remember is that there’s no “perfect” shape. Being underweight is just as unhealthy as being overweight so all that matters is you stay within a healthy body mass range. While you should certainly eat healthy every day, some experts believe that a 5:2 diet can help to reduce inflammation in the body. This type of diet involves fasting for 2 days every week to give your body a break (consuming too much food can be a lot for your body to handle even if the food you’re eating is healthy).
Again, whatever type of diet you go for, you need to follow 3 key rules: consistency, balance, and moderation. To explain in detail, you need a permanent diet (starving yourself and then binge-eating is not healthy), a balanced diet (eating nothing but vegetables is not healthy – you need variety), and a moderated diet (eating too much of anything is bad for you).
The other lifestyle necessary to achieve a healthy body is a fitness routine. Much like your diet, this needs to become a permanent part of your daily lifestyle if you want it to stick. This is easier to achieve than you might think because the goal can be to exercise little and often. You don’t need to find time for a 5-hour gym session. We’re all busy. We have lives to live. But if you could do a mere 10-20 minutes every morning or evening to jog or walk around your neighborhood or local park, do yoga in your living room, or cycle to work then you would definitely notice the difference.
Keep your body moving in some way because physical activity is crucial to keeping you healthy. It’s not just about losing weight, it can give you a healthier glow and improve your state of mind to help with your confidence regarding your appearance. We’ll come back to mental health later, though.
Another key part of your appearance is your hair. We all have a bad hair day from time to time but maybe you feel as if most days are bad hair days for you. Take it easy on shampooing and cut down on dying or bleaching your hair. Sometimes, giving your locks some room to breathe can improve their appearance. The natural approach really can work wonders. You don’t want to suffocate your hair with too many different chemicals and cosmetic products. Keep it simple.
Of course, if your problem stems from a lack of hair then you might need to take more direct action. According to Dr. Alex Roher, 25% of people suffer from premature hair loss. That’s absolutely staggering. You might be surprised to learn that 40% of those who suffer from balding are women, so this isn’t a gender-specific phenomenon. If you fall in this category, you might want to try something like PRP for hair loss treatment. You shouldn’t have to suffer if you’re unhappy with your hair and it certainly shouldn’t ruin your daily routine. There are ways to treat this issue.
Finally, it’s extremely beneficial to work on your mental health. As I mentioned in the beginning, the secret to looking good is feeling good. And no matter how conventionally attractive you may or may not be, you won’t like your appearance until you learn to like yourself. Love yourself! This all starts in the mind. Looking good is about feeling confident that you look good.
You might want to work on meditation to help relieve stress and anxiety. You’ll definitely notice the direct effects of improving your mental state too. Reducing stress can even reduce acne. You’ll have clearer skin in no time. And remember that a smile can make all the difference to your appearance and helps you feel good about yourself at the same time.
